These are common-sense, compassionate ideas which will actually improve these problems.

I am a ONE member, and all for making sure that this country elects a president who will follow through with their (On The Record) ‘plans and pledges’ to fight global poverty and disease. But at the same time, ONE members—whichever president is elected, and no matter how much money their plans contribute, poverty will never be defeated. Now hear why I make such a bold and contrary statement to ONE’s core goal. As much as I would love to see poverty defeated—as a Christian man, I must sincerely consider what God’s Word says on the issue of poverty as well. I am confident that a large majority of sincere Christian men and women believes we are living in ‘the last days,’ when things will only get worse and worse. Jesus made it clear that “nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. THERE WILL BE FAMINES IN VARIOUS PLACES.” And He says, “SUCH THINGS MUST HAPPEN, but the end is still to come.” I am all for giving abundantly, when I can, I LOVE to give to those who have less. In fact, when it comes to fighting poverty, ONE’s mission is completely in line with what the Bible says about giving:
“Our desire is not that others might be relieved while you are hard pressed, but that there might be equality. AT THE PRESENT TIME [OUR](the U.S.) PLENTY WILL SUPPLY WHAT THEY NEED…Then there will be equality…” Yes, progress WILL be made in many areas of need for years to come—but whether you’re a Christian ONE member, or not— given this country’s already-enormous debt, combined with the truth that any sincere Christian must face about the predicted inevitability regarding this world’s future condition—it won’t matter who’s elected, or how much money is pledged to other countries. It does not mean I’m ‘throwing in the towel’ and giving up the fight—I will continue to give my time and money to trustworthy charitable organizations like Worldvision and the ONE Campaign every opportunity I have. I’m not trying to ‘be the rain on a very strong and resilient parade’ as the One Campaign, but I must also keep my eyes on what my faith says is biblically inevitable. And I’m sure many of you are ready to ‘tee off’ on me and what I’ve written—but
a little something I thought maybe you should be aware of before making pre-assumptions about who I am, and how I live…….I’m a 30-year old quadriplegic who’s lived in nursing homes since the age of the 17, receiving
$30 a month in disability. I know what it’s like to live on little. But I do what I can to keep helping, and keep fighting poverty and disease as best as the Lord will enable me.

After listening to Mr. Huckabees’ videos I agree with his powerful statement on the poor of the world as to say our nation who has many who do without that is right up under our noses. How many of us have walked passed them or seen them around and judge them cause they look different? Thank you Mr. Huckabee for touching on htose matters.

Amen Scott. You just expressed everything I’ve been thinking for the last few years in a very short paragraph. I’m so tired of everyone on the “PC” side thinking that they are the tolerant ones when they are so against anything that Christians do, yet will drop everything to accomodate Muslims, Atheists or any other religion. Thank you for your wonderful response. Gov. Huckabee is a wonderful man and would make a great President for our country in the years ahead. We need him at this point in our history.

I really appreciate Gov. Huckabee’s stance on preventative health care rather than reactive health care…especially when it comes to global poverty and health related issues. I wish he had a better chance for the presidency. Although, I don’t appreciate his position on abortion. Abortion does not belong in politics. It’s a personal issue and people have to deal with their own bodies and conscience when it comes to it. GET IT OUT OF THE POLITICAL ARENA!

Marianne:
My guess is that you would denounce anyone who said terrorism was a normal part of Islam, since it does not go with the teachings of that religion but rather is being used as an excuse for their actions. You should give the same courtesy to Christians. Many terrible things have been done in the name of God (in every religion including Christianity). Those things are not the types of things Jesus preached. Read through Matthew and you will see that the only people Jesus was angry with were the religious leaders of his time who were hypocrites. This same Jesus warned us that few people would truly follow him. It is no suprise there are hypocrites but it does not mean that no one has true faith.
It is not fair for you to judge Gov. Huckabee as a hypocrite simply because he is a man of faith. Instead we must look not only to what one says but what one does. He is not a hypocrite as he is putting his faith into action.
It seems to me the real hypocrites are the people in the PC crowd who screams “tolerance” and yet at the same time are so intolerant of anyone who says they are a Christian.

I appreciated Mike Huckabee’s comments on the ONE compaigns issues. He sounds like he’s really committed to improving people’s lives.
